Mandalas for meditation
Process of making the MandalaMandalas have been used as a way of focusing the mind and concentrating the senses on the circular design. The Mandala represents a wholeness, or "good gestalt" that helps an individual to find their own centre. In this way the mandala is also closely related to certain fundamental symbols, which have an archetypal significance. The mandala becomes a metaphor, which has a structure linked to that of the parable. The colours of the mandala, and geometric structure gives an order to the elements that are contained within the narrative, creating a sacred space in which the events are placed within a sense of time that has an eternal quality. Here time is not understood as linear, but as ever repeating itself, because it is part of the cyclical rhythms that govern nature, and the ever revolving seasons.
