The Sangam Group

Sangam was started in 2004 by Imogen and Kiran Sahi. It was conceived as a meeting point of cultures and a place for developing creative education ideas. The project is based at "The Land" on the edge of Silvepura village and is supported by a local team who are involved both in the Labyrinth studio and in the educational work that Sangam undertakes.

Sangam is supported by and regularly involves other members of the Sahi family, especially Roshan, Anjali and Jyoti.

As a group we share a focus on developing an understanding of our local context with its changing social and environmental landscape. This work involves workshops, documentation, written work, reflective discussion and creative action. Many of our workshops grew from an interest and enjoyment in sharing our local understanding with the groups who visit us.

Imogen Sahi

Imogen's background is in both Biology and Geography (Exeter, UK.) She qualified as a teacher of Science and specialized in Biology (Homerton, Cambridge, UK.) She was head of subject in a London comprehensive and a Leading Science Teacher for Surrey Local Education Authority before joining Kiran, her husband, in India. She first visited India in 2000 as a volunteer teacher, and since 2003 she has lived at "The Land" where Sangam is based. She works part time as a Biology teacher at CFL school.
